Fall Time Crafts with Kids
Who needs easy, simple, and fun fall time crafts to do with their kids or the kids they nanny?
Look no further! We are here to help! Fall brings so much change and excitement and a perfect time to get crafty with the kids! Here are four easy, simple, and fun fall time crafts that are great for kids of all ages:
Painting Pumpkins
- Supplies needed: pumpkins
wiht no blemishes, paintbrushes or sponges, jars, non-toxicacryllic paints, paint smock or apron, and plate or palette for paint - Wash the pumpkin gently with soap and water and dry very well before painting
- Prepare a space where it’s ok if the kids get messy. A drop cloth or newspapers will work great to paint pumpkins on top of
- Protect the kid’s clothes if needed: I highly recommend a painting smock for kids (can purchase here!)
- Layout water jars (for washing off brushes), sponges, paint brushes, and a little paint of each color on a paper plate or paint tray palette. *For paint- I recommend kids non-toxic acrylic paints as they are safe and non-toxic.
- Let them paint!!!! Take some pictures of this fun craft time too!!!
Fall Wreath
- Supplies needed: paper plate, glue, & leaves
- Let the kids go outside and pick up different colors and shapes of leaves
- Cut the center out of a paper plate
- Let the kids glue the different leaves on the white ring (paper plate) and make a beautiful wreath
- For smaller kids, put dots of glue around the plate and help them place the leaves on there
Pine Cone Bird Feeders
- Supplies needed: pine cones, peanut butter, twine, and birdseed
- Have kids gather pine cones out and about in the yard or even a park. Look for ones that are open so you can spread the peanut butter easier
- Cut a length of twine for each pine cone. I’d say long enough to thread through the top of the pine cone and hang from a tree branch
- Tie the twine at the very top of the pine cone. Make sure you do this first!
- Give kids a small spatula or butter knife of peanut butter to spread over
teh pine cone. I’d recommend havingnewspaper or paper plate under this - Roll the pinecone in a plate full of birdseed or you can
sprinkel it on - Let the kids pick the perfect tree to hand them up and put them somewhere where you can watch the birds come and enjoy
Fall Time Handprint Tree
- Supplies needed: White card stock paper, pencil, non-toxic acrylic paints, paintbrushes, and q-tips
- Start off by tracing the kid’s arm and hand or have them do this if they are old enough on the white paper
- Paint the arm and hand on the paper brown to look like a tree stump
- Give the kids a few drops of each color of paint that looks like leaves: orange, red, yellow, brown, green, etc. and some q-tips for each color
- Have the kids dot the paint with the q-tip on the paper to make it look like the tree’s leaves
Have fun with the kids in your life and take time to make a fall time craft. I’m sure they’ll enjoy it. If you do make one of these, tag @allaboutnannies in your picture!
